Buyer's guide

Best NPS survey tools

Any tool can show you a 0-10 question and compute promoters minus detractors. What separates NPS tools is what they do with the open follow-up — the 'why' that turns a number into a fixable reason. Look for clean delivery (email, in-app, or link), segmentation so you can slice the score, and some way to read the verbatims without copying them into a doc one by one.

The shortlist

Enform

Runs the 0-10 question plus the open follow-up, then reads every verbatim for themes, sentiment, and quotes and drafts an editable deck (PPTX/PDF) — best for founders and PMs who want the reason behind the score, not just the number.

Delighted

Purpose-built NPS with email, web, link, and SMS delivery and clean trend reporting — best for teams who want a recurring NPS pulse live in an afternoon.

SurveyMonkey

Built-in NPS templates with benchmarks and segmentation — best for teams who want to compare their score against industry norms.

Typeform

An NPS template wrapped in a conversational, well-designed flow — best when the survey is customer-facing and completion rate matters.

Google Forms

A free way to ask the NPS question and collect responses in Sheets — best for a one-off score check when you'll do the math yourself.

FAQ

How is the NPS score calculated?
Take the percentage of promoters (9-10) and subtract the percentage of detractors (0-6). Passives (7-8) count toward the total but not the score, so the result ranges from -100 to +100. Most dedicated NPS tools compute this for you.
Why does the open follow-up matter so much?
The number tells you whether loyalty is moving; the follow-up tells you what to do about it. A tool that only reports the score leaves you watching it drop without knowing which fix to ship. Enform reads those follow-ups and themes them so the 'why' is as visible as the number.
Which NPS tool is easiest to get running?
Delighted is the fastest for a recurring NPS program with multi-channel delivery. For a one-off pulse you also want summarized, Enform gets you the score plus a written read on the verbatims in the same pass.
